Franklin, Tenn. – Round one action at the Mason Rudolph Challenge at the Vanderbilt Legends Golf Course in Franklin, Tenn., wrapped up Friday with the South Carolina women’s golf team sitting in 17th place of the 18 teams competing.

Sophomore Jenna Pearson shot a four-over-par 76 to lead the way for the Gamecocks. Her effort placed her in a tie for 42nd overall. Making her first appearance as a collegian, freshman Whitney Simons was solid, finishing with a five-over 77.

The team’s lone senior, Tiffany Catafygiotu fired a seven-over 79, with freshman Blythe Worley finishing her first collegiate round with an eight-over par 80. Following a solid showing at the NCAA Fall Preview in Oregon last week, freshman Caroline Rominger rounded out the Gamecock squad with a 13-over 85.

Round two action will be played Saturday.
