Clemson Head Coach Jim Davis We came in falling on a tough time. We lost four in a row. We have an awful lot of new faces. We lost games that we should have not lost. I have a great deal of respect for USC and their coaching staff. They are struggling like we are. This is a game that we needed for our psyche.

Reggie and Tasha are new to our program, they are not new to college basketball. We are probably too dependent on them. I thought Talley played the best game of her career. We won’t face any more pressure that we faced in this basketball game tonight, its huge for us playing in this kind of pressure.

Responding on Reggie Maddox shot to force overtime: I’m glad it went in with about two seconds left to play. I did not see her feet, but both officials said she was inside the line, obviously they saw it.

Tasha Phillips We were struggling, and we needed this. They were shooting the ball very well. We kept on shooting, but we knew we couldn’t force it. We wanted to come in and a get a big win on their home court because this is a big rivalry.

D’Lesha Lloyd I was very excited to come back home, and this wasn’t in my mind. I just wanted to come and win like I do every game.

USC Head Coach Susan Walvius

Opening Comments: It was a really disappointing basketball game for us. We put ourselves in the position to win the game and we didn’t win the game. Booker had an amazing game she provided the emotion that we were looking for. We need more out of our post players. We came in not to allow easy looks to Julie Talley and we gave them easy looks. We did not execute that part of our game plan. It sticks with you and it sticks with you all year, it’s a frustrating one, especially when you have it right there.

Responding on Shooting: We need to shoot better than nine percent in overtime, we need to grow in games. Poor shooting in the first half, we overcame that with better shooting in the second half but this is a young team. Lakesha Tolliver is a vocal leader and Lauren Simms is a leader by example but she needs to be both. Booker is starting to be both as she learns the game at this level. Tonight we had 21 offensive rebounds compared to their 12. Field goal percentage didn’t help us with our post players going 0-11. They are some talented players and they’ve got to put the ball in the hole. They missed the shots because they were hurrying them. The emotion of this rivalry game will do that because it is so important to win this game. We missed a lot of easy baskets tonight.

Lea Fabbri I feel very comfortable. I have great teammates, they made some good shots. I was able to pass the ball very well tonight.

Stacy Booker I came into the game thinking we would come in here and run with it. Nothing concerned me before the game.

Responding on her and Simms missing the 1-in-1 free throws: It was very big. Nervousness kicked in, and you can’t be nervous. That is something that you have to fight off.
