Former Gamecock two-sport great Rob DeBoer will throw out the first pitch for Friday’s USC baseball season opener against Longwood. Game time is 3 p.m. at Sarge Frye Field. DeBoer was captain of the 1993 Gamecock football team and was the starting catcher for Carolina’s baseball team from 1992-93. DeBoer is currently an account executive for Gamecock Sports Properties. His hometown is Omaha, Nebraska, the site of the College World Series … an event the Gamecocks have advanced to for the past three seasons.
