GAINESVILLE, Fla.– The University of South Carolina diving team ended the second day of the Southeastern Conference Diving Championships in Gainesville, Fla. with three top 8 finishes. Seniors Holly Hodges and Lauren King placed third and fourth respectively in the women’s one-meter board competition. Senior Andy Bradley was the lone men’s diver in the three-meter board finals, where he finished seventh.

Hodges finished with a total score of 277.25 while King recorded a score of 273.20 in the finals to add to her second-place finish yesterday on the three-meter board. Kentucky’s Taryn Ignacio won the one-meter board competition with a score of 296.40.

In the women’s one-meter preliminary, junior Tracey Richardson recorded a score of 226.50 to take 15th place while the fourth Gamecock diver in competition, sophomore Lyndsey Havens, earned a total score of 189.95 to finish 22nd.

Bradley earned a spot in the finals by finishing preliminary competition in sixth place with a score of 517.40. In the finals, he dropped a spot to seventh with a total score of 523.00. Georgia’s Chris Colwill won the event with a score of 627.30.

Senior Dean Emmerton placed 14th in the preliminary competition and junior teammate Ian Balman finished 19th as both divers did not qualify for the finals on the three-meter board. Emmerton earned a score of 449.45 to finish just shy of 13th place and Balman recorded a score of 417.75.

The final day of the diving portion of the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships will begin Sunday at 10:30 a.m with the women’s preliminary platform competition. Women’s platform finals will begin at 3 p.m. with the men’s platform finals at 4 p.m. Full results can be found at www.gatorzone.com.
