Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina baseball team is ranked sixth by Collegiate Baseball and ninth by Baseball America following last week’s 2-2 record with a win over Wofford and one victory in a three-game series against Arkansas. Carolina is 17-3 and 1-2 in the SEC entering this week. The Gamecocks face Davidson at home with a first pitch set for 7 p.m. at Sarge Frye Field before heading on the road for a weekend series at 11th ranked Florida.

WEEKLY NOTES:
South Carolina went 2-2 on the week with one win over Wofford and one win in a three-game series to open the SEC season vs. Arkansas.

South Carolina senior RHP Zac McCamie picked up the victory for Carolina on Saturday and is now 5-0 on the year with a 2.06 ERA as well as 36 strikeouts and just seven walks in 35 innings pitched … McCamie is now 12-0 in his career at Carolina on the mound … McCamie worked a season-high seven innings and allowed one run on five hits with seven strikeouts.

Senior RHP Jason Fletcher made his fourth appearance of the season and retired 15 batters in a row in Sunday’s loss to the Razorbacks before allowing two consecutive hits in the ninth inning … Fletcher is 2-0 on the year with a 1.69 ERA in 16 innings pitched.

Freshman RHP Wynn Pelzer made his first start in SEC play in Sunday’s loss and went three 1/3 innings allowing three runs on two hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

Senior RHP Aaron Rawl moved into fifth place on the USC-All-Time List for appearances with 75 now in his career, Rob Mosser holds the record with 88 appearances between 1990-93 … Rawl went five innings in Friday’s loss allowing seven runs, three earned, on seven hits with a season-high seven strikeouts.

Carolina DH Jon Willard leads the Gamecocks in hitting with a .435 batting average as well as four HR and 14 RBI … Willard currently has a six-game hitting streak and owns the team’s highest hitting streak of the year which is 10.

Six of nine Gamecock starters are currently batting over .300 (Willard, Steven Tolleson (.387), Michael Campbell (.373), Chris Brown (.348), Steve Pearce (.339) and Davy Gregg (.333).

USC returns to action on Wednesday night hosting Davidson at 7 p.m. At Sarge Frye Field … Carolina heads on the road over the weekend with a three-game series vs. the Florida Gators … South Carolina leads the all-time series with the Gators 24-19 and have won the last five series played between the two schools.
