Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina baseball team enters the week ranked eighth in the Sports Weekly/ESPN Coaches poll and 13th by both Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball. USC hosts Clemson on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Sarge Frye Field. Carolina is now 29-8 on the year and 9-6 in the SEC, one game behind first place Florida.

WEEKLY NOTES:

South Carolina finished last week with a 1-3 record including a win on Sunday to snap a three-game losing streak … The Gamecocks entered the week with a nine-game winning streak before Wednesday’s loss … Carolina is 29-8 for the season including 9-6 in the SEC, one game behind SEC leader Florida.

Senior RHP Aaron Rawl worked seven 1/3 innings to earn the win in Sunday’s 7-4 victory and improved his record to 7-2 on the year … Rawl now owns a career record of 33-11 and is tied for eighth on the USC All-Time Innings Pitched List and hurling 313 2/3 innings … Rawl made his 79th appearance as a Gamecock and is tied for fifth on that list with Brian Beatson (1987-1990).

Senior RHP Zac McCamie tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts in Saturday’s 2-1 loss to the Commodores … McCamie owns a 7-2 record as well with a 2.14 ERA and 70 strikeouts in a team-high 63 innings pitched , he has lasted at least five innings in all 10 starts this year.

Junior reliever Brent Marsh leads the team in appearances with 16 and picked up a save in Sunday’s win over Vanderbilt … Marsh has eight saves and a 1-0 record with a 1.59 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 17 innings pitched … Marsh has thrown scoreless innings of relief in 14 of his 16 appearances made.

Junior OF Davy Gregg has a season-high seven-game hitting streak … Gregg is batting .355 on the year with 16 multi-hit games, seven doubles, eight stolen bases and is also batting .362 in conference games.

Junior outfielder Michael Campbell also has 16 multi-hit games and is batting .338 with six HR and 27 RBI … Campbell tripled for a team-high third time and also doubled in Sunday’s win vs. Vanderbilt.

Senior infielder Steve Pearce is batting .333 with nine HR and 32 RBI … Pearce became the 18th player in Carolina history to record 30 career home runs with his homer at LSU last week.

Senior outfielder Brendan Winn returned to the lineup on Friday vs. Vanderbilt and hit his ninth home run of the season after being out two weeks due to injury.

South Carolina head coach Ray Tanner reached a milestone two weeks ago with his 400th win at USC and is nearing another career mark … Tanner is 796-333-3 in 18 years a head coach in Division I baseball, just four wins shy of 800 victories.

South Carolina and Clemson meet for the final time this regular season on Wednesday night at Sarge Frye Field with first pitch set for 7 p.m. … Following the game, the Tom Price Award and the Bob Bradley award will be awarded to the MVP’s from both teams for the year series … Both Bradley and Price served as the school’s sports information directors … Tom Price continues at South Carolina as SID Emeritus and official scorer for all South Carolina home games and radio analyst on road games …. Bradley passed away on October 30, 2000, he served as Clemson’s baseball SID for 45 years and still served as Clemson’s official scorer for most of 2000.

Carolina heads back on the road this weekend for a three-game SEC series at Alabama … Carolina and the Crimson Tide are tied in the SEC with 9-6 conference records.
