The SEC sponsors Good Works Teams in all 20 sports. The Good Works Team looks to highlight athletes from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts. Brief biographical sketches of the 2005 Women’s Tennis Good Works Team follows:
Natalie McElveen, Alabama
Junior Birmingham, Ala.
Participated in “Play Days” hosted by the Alabama tennis program… Has spent time reading to local elementary school students and visited hospital patients… Coordinates Beat Auburn Beat Hunger and Project Angel Tree.
Iliana Pacheco, Arkansas
Senior Dallas, Texas
Has volunteered her time teaching tennis camps at local clubs… Participated in program that bought Christmas gifts for underprivileged children… Organized a program that collected clothing to be sent to Latin America… Spends free time volunteering at a daycare… Helped landscape local housing projects as part of the University’s Student Day of Caring.
Sarah Suitor, Auburn
Senior Paducah, Ky.
Participated in an Auburn “Sports Day” where local children interacted with the team’s athletes… Visited children at National Student-Athlete Day… Has assisted senior citizens in the Auburn area with activities, exercise and arts and crafts.
Jennifer Magley, Florida
Junior Bradenton, Fla.
She works with a group titled “Girl Power” once a week at a community center in Gainesville for at-risk girls, and she started a similar program in Bradenton called “Pearls of Grace”… She was nominated for the Golden Herald Award, recognizing outstanding Manatee County high school seniors for their unselfish service to their school and community… Plays the violin and the drums and is the lead singer in a contemporary girls vocal group called “Faith”.

Mentoring students at Barrow Elementry School… Volunteer at the Atlanta Union Mission and the Atlanta Women’s Shelter… Volunteer for the Toys-for-Tots program and the Northeast Georgia Food Bank… Participates in Adopt-a-Family Program for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Served as a mentor at Lexington’s Lansdowne Elementary School… Participated in the “Walk Kids to School” Day… Volunteered at the Hope Center… Took part in a food drive in conjunction with UK’s Center for Academic and Tutorial Services… Volunteered at the Lexus Tennis Challenge.

Annie Menees, Vanderbilt
Senior St. Louis, Mo.
Helps prepare meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House… Helps host a sports day for local school children, instructing then in tennis and other sports… Helped prepare and host a holiday party for underprivileged children… Visits children in the outpatient clinics at Vanderbilt’s Children’s Hospital… Volunteers in a 2-3 year-old classroom of normally-developing students, as well as students with various disabilities… Played in the “24-Hour Tennis Marathon” to help raise money for St. Louis Forest Park’s Dwight Davis Tennis Center… Takes underprivileged children to Vanderbilt Football games and participates in activities before the game.
