Tuscaloosa, Ala. – The 24th-ranked University of South Carolina women’s tennis team dropped their quarterfinal SEC Tournament match on Friday in Tuscaloosa against the No. 8 Florida Gators, 4-0. The loss dropped the Gamecocks to 14-8 overall while the Gators improved to 15-2.

Florida took two of the three doubles contest to gain an 1-0 advantage heading into the singles match-ups. Jennifer Magley and Zerene Reyes took the top doubles flight 8-1 over Carolina’s Christyn Lucas and Magda Wojdylo. Boglarka Berecz and Nina Suvak clinched the doubles point for the Gators with an 8-5 victory at three over Megan McGavock and Miranda Gutierrez. Laura Ganzer, and Fallon Koon was leading Whitney Benik and Alex Liles 6-5 at the No. 2 doubles position before play was suspended.

In singles, the Gators claimed the first three singles contest that came off the court to take a 4-0 victory over the Gamecocks. Miranda Gutierrez fell to Nina Suvak at three 6-1,6-2. Zerene Reyes put the Gators up 3-0 with a 6-0,6-0 victory against Laura Ganzer at two. Lolita Frangulyan clinched the match for the Gators with a 6-0,7-5 victory at six. All completed and unfinished matches in doubles and singles are listed below.

The Gamecocks will now wait to receive their 11th straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Carolina has recorded 10 straight appearances which ranks as the 11th longest active streak in the nation.
