With the 2005 season coming to a close today, the South Carolina Gamecocks (28-26-1, 11-16) earned the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 seed Auburn at the 2005 SEC Softball Tournament, May 12-15 in Gainesville, Fla. This marks the ninth consecutive berth to the tournament for USC. The Southeastern Conference released the bracket Sunday afternoon and the Gamecocks and the Tigers will kickoff the tournament at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12.

Following the South Carolina/Auburn game is No. 2 Alabama vs. No. 7 Mississippi State at 1:30 p.m. The host school, No. 5 Florida will play No. 4 Tennessee at 5 p.m. and No. 1 Georgia will take on No. 8 LSU to cap off the evening at 7:30 p.m.

The Gamecocks have a 14-11 record at the tournament and are looking to snap a three game losing streak. Last year, USC went 0-2 and the year before, went 1-2. South Carolina’s best finish at the tournament came in 2000 when they won the title with a 4-1 record.
