USC women’s track and field team will be honored at Friday’s home baseball game for their recent Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship title won in Nashville, Tenn. on Sunday. A member of the championship team will throw the first pitch at the 7 p.m. game against Kentucky at Sarge Frye Field.
The nationally ranked No. 2 Gamecocks won their third conference title in six years at the conclusion of a highly competitive four-day championship that included many of the nation’s top track and field teams. USC women’s team won the title with a collaborative effort from both track and field athletes to total four individual titles, including the school’s first title in the triple jump, two relay wins, along with several other great performances, to total 145.2 points.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will be traveling next week to the NCAA East Regional in New York, N.Y. held on May 27-28.
