The Black team surged into the lead on Saturday in the third round of the Garnet vs. Black Intrasquad. Senior Eirik Johansen paced the Black team with a 67 at The University Club. The Black team carries an eight-shot lead into Sunday’s final round at Woodcreek.

“Florian (Fritsch), Eirik (Johansen) and Patrick (Cunning) have all played very solid,” head coach Puggy Blackmon said. “Tomorrow’s final round should be a shootout, and how often do you have a car wash for a closing ceremony?”

Frtisch holds the team and overall lead after three rounds. He followed rounds of 69 and 70 with another 69 on Saturday. Johansen is one stroke back of Fritsch at 210.

Sophomores Warren Thomas and Mark Anderson both fired a 71 on Saturday, and senior Robert Svennson rounded out the Black team effort with a 74.

For the Garnet team, redshirt freshman Patrick Cunning also shot a 69 in the third round and sits at 211 overall. Freshman Mark Silvers carded a 72 and freshman Baker Elmore shot 73 on Saturday. Redshirt sophomore David Kite fired a 75 and freshman Allen Koon finished with a 77.

Pairings for the fourth and final round are as follows:

Robert Svensson/David Kite Mark Anderson/Mark Silvers Warren Thomas/allen Koon Eirik Johansen/Baker Elmore Florian Fristch/Patrick Cunning

All five scores are counted toward the team total. In addition to earning bragging rights, the losing team will wash the winning team’s cars.
