Led by individual medalist Florian Fritsch, the Black team emerged victorious in the inaugural Garnet vs. Black Intrasquad on Sunday. The Black squad finished eight strokes ahead of the Garnet team in the four-round event, despite strong final rounds by redshirt freshman Patrick Cunning and freshmen Mark Silvers and Baker Elmore at Woodcreek Golf Club.

Not only did the Black team earn bragging rights, but team members handed over the “Big Bucket” to their Garnet counterparts. The Garnet squad washed the Black team’s cars.

Frtisch shot a 69 in the final round and senior Eirik Johansen carded a 72 to pace the Black team. Frtisch finished with a four-day stroke total of 278 to lead all golfers. Johansen was next at 282. In Sunday’s last round, sophomore Warren Thomas shot 74, senior Robert Svensson fired a 76 and sophomore Mark Anderson rounded out the lineup with a final-round 80.

Cunning led the Garnet team with a four-day total of 281, including a 71 in the fourth round. Silvers shot a team-best 70 on the final 18 holes, finishing at 288. Baker Elmore carded a 72, freshman Allen Koon fired a 77 and redshirt sophomore David Kite shot an 80 in the fourth round.

All five players’ scores were counted toward the team total.
