Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina women’s tennis team will kick-off the annual Southern Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament again on Friday, October 28th in Columbia, S.C.
Several schools will participate in the tournament, including Appalachian State, Armstrong Atlantic State, Benedict, Brenau, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Erskine, Francis Marion, Georgia State, North Carolina State, South Carolina State, UT-Chattanooga, USC Upstate, Western Carolina and Wofford. The tournament will consist of seven flights in singles and doubles action. There will also be consolation matches so each player will compete in at least four singles and three doubles throughout the weekend.
“We’ve held this tournament for a number of years. I think it’s the biggest tournament we’ve had and by far the strongest,” said USC Head Coach Arlo Elkins. “We’re really looking forward to hosting all the teams participating this weekend.”
The matches will kick-off at 9 a.m. on Friday at three different tennis facilities, Maxcy Gregg Tennis Courts on Blossom Street (home of USC women’s tennis), Sam Daniels Tennis Courts next to the USC baseball stadium (home of USC men’s tennis), and the Columbia Tennis Center, which is located on Pickens Street. The tournament will conclude with finals action on Sunday.
