Auburn, Ala. – The South Carolina women’s golf team shot a 298 on Sunday in final round action of The Derby Invitational hosted by Auburn University, finishing tied for seventh with Oklahoma State at 45-over-par with a three-day score of 301-310-298=909. Auburn won the event on their home course, followed by top-ranked Duke, Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, and Florida.

Senior Erica Battle led the Gamecocks throughout the tournament with a seven-over-par 74-75-74=223, marking the best total of the fall for the Irmo native. Battle’s two-over-par 74 on Sunday was matched by junior Jenna Pearson and sophomore Whitney Simons.

Simons finished tied for 28th at 12-over-par for the event. Pearson was just three strokes behind at 15-over-par for the weekend.

Sophomore Camila Mori was among those tied with Simons at 28th on the individual leader board. Mori took a four-over-par 76 into the clubhouse Sunday, with a 75-77-76=228 for all three days.

Senior Laura McCaslin and sophomore Laura Raffo also competed in the tournament, with Raffo participating as an individual. Raffo posted a 81-77-78=236, while McCaslin registered a 76-85-80=241.

They will get back into action February 24-26 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
