Junior Guard Lauren Simms
Regarding Team Confidence:
“We have a lot of confidence. We’re just taking everything one game at a time. At the beginning of the season we knew we could play with anyone in the country, and that’s where our confidence comes from.”
Sophomore Center Ilona Burgrova
Regarding Career High Points:
“I just have to thank my teammates for everything. If they didn’t pass me the ball, I couldn’t score. I’m glad we executed. We’ve been working on this (kind of game) for a long time.”
Head Coach Susan Walvius
Opening Statement:
“I’m real pleased with our team to put up 95 points today, especially with Demetress Adams out of the game (with an injury). We thought Demetress would play 25 or 30 minutes tonight, but Ilona stepped up for us.”
Regarding Defense:
“Defense is very important. Every gameplan we put together has defense as a primary focus. A year ago, they were trying to understand what they’re roles were. They have a better understanding now, and they’re focused on getting their jobs done.”
Regarding Lauren Simms:
“Lauren is a leader by example. She’s passionate about the game and does a good job. Her role in this game was to go offensively until they stopped her. She did a great job in the first half and was extremely unselfish in the second half. She’s really special, extremely unselfish, wants the team to win, and will do whatever is asked of her.”
Regarding Next Opponent Clemson:
“Clemson is a good shooting team. We didn’t do a really good job defending the outside shooters tonight. Coach Tammy Holder did the scouting report already, and Clemson is a good outside shooting team.”
