COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 22nd-ranked South Carolina women’s tennis team will take on No. 60 Furman tomorrow, Jan. 31, at 5 p.m. at the USC Indoor Tennis Facility. The Gamecocks are 2-0 on the spring season with a pair of 7-0 wins over the College of Charleston and Davidson, while the Lady Paladins are 0-1 after losing to No. 2 Florida, 7-0, Jan. 28.

South Carolina is 20-6 all-time against Furman, including a 4-3 win last year in Greenville, S.C. The Gamecocks have not lost to the Lady Paladins since April 13, 1976 and look to start the season with a record of at least 3-0 for the third consecutive year.

In their previous match, the Gamecocks defeated Davidson, 7-0, Jan. 29 by sweeping all three doubles matches and with singles wins from freshman Gira Schofield, ranked 59th in the nation; senior Danielle Wiggins; sophomore Megan McGavock; junior Miranda Gutierrez; redshirt sophomore Grace Blakely; and senior Justine Walsh.

South Carolina hits the road for the first time this season when they travel to College Park, Md. for matches against No. 39 Maryland Feb. 3 and No. 35 Michigan Feb. 4. The next home match is Sunday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. against in-state rival Clemson.
