Columbia, SC – Currently ranked No. 1 nationally on the women’s side and No. 15 on the men’s side, the South Carolina track and field teams are getting it done in the classroom as well. In the Fall, 2005 semester, the two teams combined to put eight men and women on the President’s List (4.0 GPA) and 31 men and women on the Dean’s List (3.5 GPA or better).

The women posted a 3.2 GPA and the men were close behind at 3.15 GPA.

The women’s team had 39 of its 52 student-athletes post a 3.0 GPA or better in the Fall of 2005, while on the men’s side 23 of the 39 student-athletes posted a 3.0 GPA or better.

“We had an excellent fall. I am so proud of all of them,” said USC Head Coach Curtis Frye. “The teams set the bar high academically in the fall and we expect no less of them in the spring. We are proud of each of them for working so hard in the classroom. My hat is off to the 46 men and women who posted a 3.5 GPA or higher. I challenge the entire team to push this semester to equal or better what they did last semester.”
