Recap | Final Stats | Notes
USC Head Coach Dave Odom
“This was a very difficult loss for our team.”
Regarding the team’s effort against Vanderbilt after the Georgia loss:
“They deserve a lot of credit for that. We made some defensive mistakes, particularly in the last five minutes.”
Regarding the last shot:
“Tarence had a great look from the corner. I know it’s a difficult loss for our fans and our university.”
Regarding the LSU game:
“We still have some work to do. We’re going to give a great effort on Tuesday night.”
Senior Guard Rocky Trice
“We’ve had some tough losses now. We’re kind of down on ourselves. Like Coach said, after each game we have to pick ourselves up as a team.”
Regarding Postseason Hopes:
“It’s in the back of our minds. We just to keep playing. Keep the faith and just go out there and run the (SEC) tournament.”
Senior Guard Tarence Kinsey
“It was a good look. I just rushed it. I wish I could take that shot again and hopefully get a better outcome. You make some, you miss some.”
“I’d rather be there at the end then get blown out from the start. As long as we keep competing and doing what we’re doing; we’re not satisfied with losing but we’re satisfied with the effort. We’re a better team than what we’re showing. We have two more games until the SEC tournament and hopefully we can turn it around.”
“We have support from the coaches and people behind the scenes that keep us humble and keep us together. Right now we still think that we can compete night in and night out.”
Vanderbilt Head Coach Kevin Stallings
“Sometimes you win when you don’t deserve to. Sometimes you lose when you don’t deserve to.”
“We’re really happy to have won. I thought our guys played extremely hard. I didn’t think we played very well. After the first eight minutes of the game, we played extremely hard and with a lot of effort and energy.”
“In some ways, this game felt like the game at our place only in reverse. We had the game won a couple different times in Nashville and somehow found a way to not finish the job. It seemed like they had this one a couple times.”
“Dan Cage was huge for us off the bench. I thought his play on both ends, not just his shots, but the physicality he played with on defense and his energy really was a key for us.”
“We did a lot of things wrong and we were fortunate to win. The one thing I really like about our team is that we’ve faced a lot of adversity this year and they have refused to back down and give in to it.”
