CHICAGO – University of South Carolina goalkeeper Mike Gustavson is one of 23 players invited by head coach Thomas Rongen to the United States Under-20 National Team Camp this week in Sunrise, Fla. The camp runs from March 7 to March 13 as the team begins preparations for the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The team will play two games during the week, facing the Colorado Rapids on Thursday, March 10, and a Haitian All-Star Team on Monday, March 13.

Gustavson, a rising sophomore at USC, is one of three goalkeepers in a group that features mainly college players. The Aiken, S.C., product started in goal for the Gamecocks in 2005 and garnered Conference USA Freshman of the Year honors. He was also a second-team all-Conference USA selection and a member of Top Drawer Soccer’s All-Freshman Team. Gustavson set a South Carolina freshman record with 88 saves and registered a 1.19 goals-against average in 2005.
