COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina softball snapped an eight-game losing streak as they defeated the Arkansas Lady Razorbacks 3-0 in game one of a twinbill Sunday. The Gamecocks scored three runs on 10 hits enroute to the shut out. Christie Hamilton (12-9) earned victory for USC while Blaire Perry (5-8) took the loss. McKenna Hughes went 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI.

Hamilton pitched her 13th complete game of the season and held the Lady Razorbacks to just two hits. Perry hit an infield single in the second and Kayla Johnson hit an infield single in the fifth to account for Arkansas’ two hits.

The Gamecocks pegged three hits in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. Jessica Josker, Hughes and Hamilton contributed to the cause as Hamilton drove in Hughes with a two-out single.

Hughes tacked on two more runs for the Gamecocks in the sixth inning with a two-out, two RBI single to extend USC’s lead to 3-0 and the eventual win.

Jacqueline Wetherbee also had the hot bat for the Gamecocks as she went 3-for-3 with a run. Ashley Smith went 2-for-3 and Ashton Payne accounted for another USC hit.

The win was the second SEC victory for Hamilton, and the first for USC since March 26.
