COLUMBIA, S.C. – University of South Carolina soccer players Ryan Leeton (Midland, Texas) and Daniel Upchurch (Dallas, Texas) have been named to the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) ESPN The Magazine All-District (III) team. Both Gamecocks are members of the second team in District III, which features men’s soccer athletes from the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Virginia.

Leeton, a first-team all-Conference USA selection this season, is an accounting major at USC. He has been a staple on the South Carolina defense during his career and served as a co-captain in 2005 and 2006. A Dean’s List student at South Carolina, Leeton was selected to the Conference USA All-Academic Team in 2006. He also won the team’s Academic Award for the Junior Class and also made the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll in 2005.

Upchurch, also a defender, has played in 28 career matches and started 14 times. In 2006, he has come off the Gamecock bench in 10 matches and scored one goal. An engineering major, Upuchurch has made the President’s List (4.0 GPA) three times and the Dean’s List once in four completed semesters. He won the team’s Academic Award for the Sophomore Class in 2005, made the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and earned the Commissioner’s Academic Medal.
