South Carolina vs. Clemson
Post-Game Quotes
November 20, 2006

South Carolina Head Coach Susan Walvius:

On the team’s overall performance: “I’m real proud of our team. We had a very specific game plan today, and I felt that we executed our defensive game plan to the most part. Clemson came out and hit some shots real early in this game and I think our team handled that real well.”

On what she felt was the key to the game: “Rebounding was the key tonight, with the size and athleticism that we have on the floor we have an opportunity to rebound the basketball. We’ve been able to get more shots at the basket because of our rebounding.”

Senior Guard Lauren Simms:
On what it means to beat Clemson:
“It’s a good win. It’s a real good confidence booster for the team as we go on in the season. It was a real good team effort tonight and a good win.”

On the team’s defensive efforts: “I think we came out fired up to play some good defense. I’m not sure if it was the best or not, but it was a pretty good team effort all around.”

Sophomore Forward Demetress Adams:

On the team’s overall performance: “I think that this was a great win for our team and for South Carolina. I guess the momentum, knowing that it was Clemson an in-state rival, made us just want to come out and execute and get ready for the tournament and the teams that we are going to be facing.”

Clemson Head Coach Cristy McKinney:

On the challenges facing her team: “Part of it is just poor shot selection. I think that we are young and we aren’t being patient at times. I think our biggest problem is effort, we just aren’t playing hard enough to be successful, and Carolina played hard.”
