South Carolina’s Post-Game Notes

The first quarter interception by Fred Bennett was his third of the season. It was the seventh career interception for Bennett, a junior.

Johnathan Joseph intercepted his fourth pass of the season on the final play of the first quarter. It was also the fourth career interception for the sophomore.

Senior Josh Brown kicked three field goals in the game, a career high.. He hit from 23 yards in the first quarter, from 43 yards in the second quarter, and 29 yards in the fourth. Brown has made nine field goals in 11 attempts this season and 19 in 26 career attempts.

The announced crowd of 83,368 increased total attendance for seven home games this season in Williams-Brice Stadium to 559,071, an average of 79,867 per game. The crowd for this game was the 14th largest in Williams-Brice history and fifth largest with Clemson as the opponent.

Dakota Walker sacked Charlie Whitehurst for a four yard loss in the third quarter, giving the freshman 3.5 sacks this season.

Sidney Rice caught seven passes for 122 yards, his fifth 100-yard plus receiving game this season. That tied a school record set by Sterling Sharpe. For the season, Rice has 58 receptions for 952 yards.

Chris Hampton blocked Clemson’s field goal attempt in the fourth quarter.

Tremaine Tyler recovered the muffed punt by Clemson’s Chansi Stuckey at the Tiger 10 yard line in the fourth quarter, his first fumble recovery of the season and first of his career.

Kris Clark recovered a fourth quarter fumble of an intercepted pass by Clemson’s C. J. Gaddis..

Mike Davis rushed for 111 yards on 21 attempts, the first 100 yard rushing game by a South Carolina back this season.
