IRVING, Texas – Twenty-four University of South Carolina men’s soccer players earned academic recognition from Conference USA, the league office announced. Carolina’s effort in the classroom was highlighted by five student-athletes who achieved the 3.75 or better cumulative grade point average required to receive the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal. That list includes freshmen Paddy Flynn (Columbia, S.C.), Trey Foster (Fort Mill, S.C.) and Cory Lewis (Alpharetta, Ga.) and juniors Daniel Upchurch (Dallas, Texas) and Matt King (Sandy, Utah).

In addition to the Commissioner’s Academic Medal winners, South Carolina placed 24 student-athletes on the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll, which mandates a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. The 2006 men’s soccer roster included 28 players.
