Tuscaloosa, Ala. – South Carolina has three decathletes in the top 10 after the first day of the SEC Track and Field Championships, including sophomore Curt McGill who sits in third place. The meet runs through Sunday on Alabama’s campus.
Curt McGill has scored 3515 points after the first day. He had the second best shot put throw on the day and the second best long jump as well. His first day results include:
- 11.63 in the 100m (725 points)
- 6.93 in the long jump (797 points)
- 46 feet in the shot put (730 points)
- 6′ 3/4 in the high jump (670 points)
- 55.14 in the 400m (593 points)
Freshman Eddie Stoudemire is in eighth place with 3320 points. He won the 100m dash with a time of 11.15, scoring 827 points. His first day results include:
- 11.15 in the 100 (827 points)
- 6.69m in the long jump (741 points)
- 35′ 10 in the shot put (541 points)
- 5’1 in the high jump (426 points)
- 50.64 in the 400m (785 points)
Freshman Scott Pierce is in 10th place with 3244 points. He was the runner-up in the 400m at 49.86. His first day results included:
- 11.76 in the 100 (699 points)
- 6.15m in the long jump (619 points)
- 32′ 10 1/4 in the shot put (486 points)
- 5’10 1/4 in the high jump (619 points)
- 49.86 in the 400m (821 points)
