South Carolina
The Gamecocks are 2-0 against North Carolina State all-time. The first meeting between the two teams was in 2006 when Carolina defeated the Wolfpack, 3-0.

South Carolina is now 2-3 against the ACC this season.

The home run by Jacqueline Wetherbee was her third on the season. It was her first since hitting two against Jacksonville on February 17, 2007. The home run was the eighth of her career which ties her for 10th all-time in USC history.

Lisa Longo’s hit in the second inning extended her hitting streak to six games.

Adele Voigt threw out NC State’s Jen Chamberlin at home plate in the first inning. It was Voigt’s fourth assist on the year. The freshman from Dacula, Ga., recorded her last assist on April 29, 2007 against Auburn.

The five runs scored by USC are the most by the Gamecocks since they scored six on April 21 against Kentucky.

The win was Carolina’s first opening round win of the NCAA Tournament since the Gamecocks defeated Princeton, 8-7 in 2003.

Melissa Hendon allowed two runs on six hits. In her last 31 2/3 innings pitched, she has allowed a total of five runs.

The two hits by Lindsay Walker marked her first multi-hit game since March 31st against Mississippi State.

The Gamecocks play Oregon tomorrow at 1 p.m. USC is 0-2 all-time against the Ducks with the last meeting coming in 1994.

N.C. State
Jen Chamberlin extended her hit streak to nine games.

The Wolfpack are 2-3 in games this season against the SEC.

The five runs scored by Carolina are the most since Maryland scored seven against the Wolfpack on April 28. The Wolfpack have allowed three or less runs in 19 of their last 21 games.

The Wolfpack plays Penn State on Saturday at 4pm in the elimination game. NC State and Penn State have met twice on the diamond with both teams claiming one win.
