COLUMBIA, S.C. –
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its final softball poll for the 2007 season and the South Carolina Gamecocks landed at No. 21 on the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll. This marks the first appearance for the Gamecocks in the poll this season, and their first final appearance since 2003. Last week, the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll was released and the Gamecocks finished at No. 24.

South Carolina posted an impressive season after winning the Columbia Regional of the NCAA Championships and advancing to the NCAA Super Regional in Evanston, Ill. It marked the first regional win for South Carolina since 1997, and the first Super Regional in school history.

South Carolina was ranked earlier in the season, the week of March 5-11. The Gamecocks were ranked No. 24 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll, making their first appearance in a national poll since 2004. The Gamecocks are one of five SEC teams that made the final poll.
