STARKVILLE, Miss. – – For the second consecutive year, the South Carolina softball team ranked fifth among Division I teams in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic Team rankings, the organization announced. The Gamecocks earned a 3.462 grade point average as a team, tops in the Southeastern Conference and also best among major conference schools.
St. Bonaventure took home top honors with a 3.622 team GPA, with Southern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and Gardner-Webb also standing in the top five. Mississippi State was the next best in the SEC, finishing 11th.
The Gamecocks are currently going through their fall practices as they prepare for the 2008 season that kicks off in February.
