IRVING, Tex. – South Carolina sophomore midfielder Jeff Scannella has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. Scannella scored two goals, adding one assist in two Carolina victories last week, including a 2-1, come-from-behind win at Davidson on Wednesday and a 3-1 conference victory at Florida International on Sunday. The wins improved No. 25 South Carolina’s season record to 8-3-0, including a league-best 2-0-0 start.

Scannella had a career week for the Gamecocks with two goals and one assist (five points) in two Carolina road victories this week. The sophomore tallied the game-winner in USC’s come-from-behind 2-1 victory at Davidson in the regular-season non-conference finale on Wednesday. He also contributed one goal and one assist in a 3-1 Conference USA victory at Florida International on Sunday. Scannella has four goals and one assist this season. This is his first C-USA Player of the Week honor.

South Carolina returns home after a three-match road swing to host Tulsa on Saturday, October 13 at 7 p.m. The game will be nationally-televised on CSTV, with a tape-delayed broadcast on October 15 (time is TBA).
