COLUMBIA –
Former South Carolina standout Kyle Thompson finished among the Nationwide Tour’s top 25 money winners and earned his first PGA Tour card on Sunday. Thompson collected a pair of wins on the Nationwide Tour this season, helping him to No. 14 on the money list with earnings of $248,698.

“This season has been a lot of fun,” Thompson said. “Having two wins made it twice as much fun. The wins were totally different. I came from behind in one and led the whole way in the other. I can’t wait until next year to test my game against players on the PGA Tour. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play on the Tour, so needless to say, I can’t wait for 2008 to roll around”

Thompson narrowly missed his tour card in 2003 and 2004, finishing 25th and 22nd, respectively. This season, he posted seven top-25 finishes and made the cut in 12 of 28 starts. His victories came at the Rex Hospital Open and the Oregon Classic. Thompson wrapped up the season at the Nationwide Tour Championship at Barona Creek, finishing in a tie for 14th place.
