COLUMBIA, S.C. – The 56th-ranked University of South Carolina men’s tennis team is set to host Troy and Wofford in a non-conference doubleheader at the USC Indoor Fieldhouse on Sunday. The Gamecocks and Terriers will square off at 10 a.m., while Carolina and Troy will compete at 2:30 p.m. Sunday marks the first dual-match competitions for the Gamecocks this spring. South Carolina head coach Kent DeMars enters his 24th season at the helm of the Gamecock program where he has amassed an all-time record of 355-254. Sunday’s matches also mark the first spring competitions for both Troy and Wofford.

The Gamecocks competed last weekend at the SEC Indoor Coaches Championship where sophomore Ivan Cressoni captured the lone singles victory of the weekend, and the team of sophomore Diego Cubas and senior Yevgeny Supeko picked up the only Gamecock doubles victory. Senior Jaime Cuellar, sophomores No. 74 Pedro Campos and David Wolff and freshman Johannes Pulsfort also competed for USC at the event.

Leading the Terriers in 2008 is senior Andrew Stubbs, a three time All-Southern Conference selection. He will be joined by sophomore George Kernodle, who was the league’s Freshman of the Year in 2007. Classmate Christopher Williams rounds out a solid core of returnees for head coach Rod Ray.

Troy fields a relatively young class, having no seniors and just one junior on the squad. Head coach Eric Hayes leads the Trojans again this season after a successful finish last year in the Sun Belt conference.
