COLUMBIA, S.C. — Brittney James from the Gamecock track and field team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

James finished third in the long jump with a distance of 20-5 (6.22m), setting a new PR. The mark was an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, giving James her second provisional distance in as many weeks. She was the highest placing SEC jumper at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic, outperforming the closest SEC competitor from Georgia by 1-4 1â”2, and finished second overall for collegiate jumpers.

James also qualified for the finals in the 55-meter hurdles, finishing 13th with a time of 8.12. Her time was the second-fastest mark for an SEC competitor in the event.
