COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina rounded up 12 first-place finishers Saturday at the Gamecock Indoor Open, held at the USC Field House.

Carolina posted three provisional qualifying marks – all in the women’s 55-meter dash – as freshmen Shayla Mahan (6.90) and Gabrielle Glenn placed first and second in the event. Glenn’s provisional came when she set a new indoor PR at 6.91 to finish first in the preliminary round. Lakya Brookins also set a provisional at 6.92 to finish second in the prelims but did not compete in the later rounds.

Six other Gamecocks set new personal bests at the meet, led by Lamar Markett’s 6.30 in the men’s 55-meter dash. Markett won all three rounds of the event to pace the Gamecocks. Trier Young set a new PR in the women’s 55-meter hurdles at 7.91. Brittney James placed second in the event, followed by Young at fourth and Bianca Blair in fifth at a season-best 8.50.
