COLUMBIA, S.C. – The second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader between South Carolina and No. 8/9 Tennessee was halted due to rainy conditions in the Columbia area. The contest currently will not be rescheduled or resumed.

Play was stopped in the top of the fifth with the bases loaded while the Lady Vols were at bat with one out. Heavier rain started to fall at the start of the inning, making conditions unplayable on Beckham Field.

South Carolina tied up the game in the frame before the stoppage, when senior Chrissy Schoonmaker singled to left with two outs, scoring sophomore Lindsay Walker from second.

Tennessee got out to the 1-0 advantage in the first when Tiffany Huff plated Tonya Callahan with a two-out single. Callahan reached via a double and moved to third on an illegal pitch.

Carolina (13-13, 2-5 SEC) will square off against fourth-ranked Florida on Wed., March 26 in Gainesville, Fla. First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 3 p.m.
