AUBURN, Ala. – South Carolina men’s tennis won eight of its 10 matches this afternoon at the Auburn Fall Classic, dropping just one doubles and one singles match on the day. Senior Thomas Stoddard, junior Pedro Campos and sophomore Johannes Pulsfort each won both their doubles and singles matches on Friday.

In doubles play, the Gamecocks got a decisive victory in Flight 2 as Campos and Joseph Veeder cruised past Troy’s Phil Janz and Benjamin Chomette 8-1. Stoddard and Pulsfort handled Diego Martinez and Maxime Zamore of Troy 8-4 in Flight 3.

Junior Diego Cubas bounced back from his doubles loss to roll in a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Chomette in Flight 1. Campos continued his winning ways with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Troy’s Mario Silva in Flight 2, as did Pulsfort in Flight 3 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Janz. Cubas’ doubles partner Ivan Machado also got in the win column in Flight 4 singles play with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win over Troy’s Guilherme Sahadhi. Stoddard rounded out the trio of two-time winners for the Gamecocks, topping Zamore 7-5, 6-3 in Flight 5. South Carolina sophomore Chris Sheehan was steady with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Troy’s Andrey Morozov in Flight 7 action.

The tournament, which includes host Auburn and Samford, continues Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
