• Carolina improves to 271-104 (.722) all-time against mid-major Division I schools from the state of South Carolina (does not include Clemson, a series that the Gamecocks lead 86-72). The Gamecocks haven’t lost to an in-state mid-major program since dropping an 85-81 decision to Charleston Southern on Dec. 28, 1996.

Charleston Southern – 7-1
The Citadel – 75-23

College of Charleston – 27-1
Furman – 70-52
Presbyterian – 29-8

• The game is South Carolina’s first against a school from the USC-campus system (Aiken, Beaufort, Lancaster, Salkehatchie, Sumter, Union, Upstate).

• South Carolina head coach Darrin Horn becomes just the fourth coach in Carolina history to win his first three regular season games, joining Branch Bobcock (3-0, 1925), Ted Petoskey (3-0, 1936) and Johnnie McMillan (5-0, 1944) as former coaches to match the feat.

• Zam Fredrick set season-highs with 23 points and nine made field goals, surpassing the 17 points and seven made field goals in the season opener against Jacksonville State. Fredrick also tied a career-high with three steals in the game.

• Devan Downey matched his season-high with six assists in the game, giving him 17 in South Carolina’s first three games this season.

• Mike Holmes, the SEC-leader in offensive rebounds a game (5.50/game), pulled down seven offensive boards. He finished with 12 total rebounds, his second consecutive game with double-digit boards.

• For the third-straight game to start the season, all five starters registered a steal. During the 2007-08 season, Carolina’s starters did this only four times (vs. Campbell, at Vanderbilt, at Georgia, at Florida and the season-finale against Tennessee in the SEC semifinals).
