PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) – Devan Downey had 22 points, seven steals and six assists as South Carolina beat Princeton 84-58 Tuesday night to bounce back from its first loss.

Zam Fredrick added 20 points for the Gamecocks (5-1), who snapped a two-game Princeton winning streak and handed the Tigers (2-3) their largest margin of defeat at Jadwin Gym since it opened in 1969. Princeton’s previous worst loss at Jadwin was 73-48 to Penn in 1999.

Dan Mavraides had 15 points off the bench for Princeton, which is 0-3 at home, and Doug Davis added 13. The Tigers committed 26 turnovers that led to 31 Gamecock points.

Trailing by as much as 13-4, Princeton took its only lead of the game at 24-23 with 5:52 left in the first half. South Carolina responded by scoring the final 15 points of the half.

The Gamecocks extended the run to 17 to start the second half, and went on to lead by as many as 33 points.
