COLUMBIA, S.C. –
The University of South Carolina Athletics Department has partnered with Richland County to work toward creating a greener Columbia. At each home men’s and women’s basketball game in the month of January, volunteers will be collecting recyclable plastics as part of the Garnet, Black and Green effort.

Fans are encouraged to bring their recyclable plastics to the games. Each time a fan brings a recyclable plastic item, he/she can enter to win a Super Bowl Party prize pack that includes a flat screen LCD television and all the necessary food to host a great Super bowl party, courtesy of Richland County Recycle.

The Garnet, Black and Green recycle program will start Thu., Jan. 8, when the women’s team opens the SEC season against Auburn and will run through Jan. 24, when the men’s team takes on Ole Miss. The winner of the Super Bowl prize pack will be announced on Jan. 28, during the South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt men’s game.
