The South Carolina Athletics Department will host an open house for all Gamecock fans on Friday, Feb. 13 at the new baseball facility. The event at Carolina Stadium will run from 5:30-7:30 pm and will be an opportunity for all fans to view the new stadium, identify their seat location and to see the entire facility and its amenities. Parking at the facility will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The main parking lot is located on Williams Street behind the facility. Season baseball parking passes are NOT applicable for the open house.

South Carolina’s new facility holds 6,400 permanent seats. The outfield bleachers and available standing room put the stadium at a capacity of approximately, 9,000. Last season, in the final year at Sarge Frye Field, the Gamecocks set a new school record for total attendance with a mark of 161,761 on the year. The average of 4,758 fans at 34 contests ranked South Carolina No. 6 in the nation per the official report released by the NCAA.

The Gamecocks will open the 2009 season in the new facility on Saturday, Feb. 21 hosting a three-game series with Duquesne. First pitch for the opener is set for 2 pm with Sunday also scheduled for 2 pm and the Monday series finale scheduled for 12 noon.

South Carolina is one of only five schools in the nation to have made seven NCAA Super Regional appearances over the last nine years (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007). In the previous nine seasons, Carolina owns the fifth highest total number of wins in the country (428) and has won more SEC games than any team in the league (162). In addition, the Gamecocks have made nine consecutive postseason appearances, the longest current streak among the 12 SEC schools. South Carolina also has three College World Series trips (2002, 2003, 2004), two SEC championships (2000, 2002) and one SEC tournament title (2004) in that span.
