COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina men’s and women’s track programs are heading to two meets this weekend as the Gamecocks prepare for the SEC Indoor Championships in two weeks. Runners for the No. 14 men and No. 13 women will head to the prestigious Tyson Invitational on the campus of the University of Arkansas while field event athletes will travel to Clemson, S.C. to compete in the Tiger Invitational.

The Gamecocks will look to improve on their 11 provisional times as the teams continue to jockey for bids at the NCAA Indoor Championships that will be held March 13-14 at College Station, Texas. Currently senior Jason Richardson is the only Gamecock with an automatic time this year as his 7.58 in the 60-meter hurdles is the only automatic time in the nation in the event.

Six Gamecock women have posted provisional times on the year in Ronetta Alexander (60m hurdles), Lakya Brookins (60m), KeKe Clarke (pentathlon), Brandi Cross (400m), Shayla Mahan (60m) and Nadonnia Rodrigues (400m).

On the men’s side, Jason Cook (shot put), Johnny Dutch (60m hurdles), Johnathan Hancock (60m), Antonio Sales (200m) and Michael Zajac (weight throw) have all posted provisonal times this year.

Carolina will return to the track next weekend when the team hosts the Gamecock Invitational at the USC Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 21.
