FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’s Miranda Dixon kept the Gamecock bats quiet in the second game of the doubleheader with a three-hit shutout to lead the Razorbacks to a 7-0 win on Wednesday afternoon at Bogle Park.
Arkansas (13-9, 2-0 SEC) got all the runs it would need in the first. Kayla Johnson singled home Jessica Bachkora and Tori Mort before scoring on Miranda Dixon’s single. The squad scored one in the second, as Mort plated Brittany Griffiths, who got a one-out double. Two more Razorbacks scored in the fifth, when Mort followed Bachkora’s leadoff single with a triple to right center. Whitney Cloer followed with a double to send home Mort. The Hogs added one more in the sixth when Sandra Smith scored from first on an error in right.
Dixon (4-4) kept the Gamecocks (12-7, 0-5 SEC) off balance all game, allowing just three hits and a walk in the shutout. Gamecock starter Kelsey Goodwin (0-1) got the loss in her first collegiate decision, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits in one inning of work.
South Carolina continues the road trip this weekend with a three-game series at No. 7/6 Tennessee.
