Former USC All-American in the 400hurdles, Jussi Heikkila, placed sixth in the World University Games, held in Belgrade, Serbia.

Heikkila had to fight off a severe ankle injury sustained in practice the prior week. He raced well for two rounds, making the finals. In the finals, running out of lane two, Heikkila raced very well, coming off of the last hurdle he was even with the three runners who ended up second, third and fourth. Heikkila’s sprint to the finish was not quite fast enough, as they pulled away and Brendan Cole from Australia nipped him at the line.

Heikkila has several more races in Europe as he prepares for the IAAF World championships in Berlin at the end of August.
