COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Southeastern Conference released its expanded television package for its fall sports, with 10 more volleyball matches on regional outlets added to the five originally selected by ESPNU. South Carolina gets one more broadcast this season, as its home contest on Sept. 27 against Mississippi State will be shown live at 3 p.m. EDT on FOX Sports South.
The match time was moved back to accommodate the broadcast from its original 1:30 p.m. first serve. The addition means the Gamecocks will have two matches on TV in the state of South Carolina for the second consecutive season.
The new package means that the SEC will have over three times as many volleyball matches on national and regional outlets than the previous years, growing to 16 between ESPNU, FS South and Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) from last year’s five. And in a change from last season, all matches will be shown live.
The Gamecocks open the home portion of their schedule on Friday with the Gamecock Invitational, facing Eastern Kentucky at 10 a.m. at the Volleyball Competition Facility.
