CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.Miljana Jocic, Adriana Pereira and Rita Maisak from the South Carolina women’s tennis team all posted victories in their singles matches Saturday at the UVa Invitational in Charlottesville, Va.

Jocic made short work of Isabell Raich from Marshall in her flight A match, winning 6-3, 6-0 to reach the finals of the backdraw. In flight B, Pereira upended Carmen Pop from Williams & Mary in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 for a shot at fifth place Sunday. Maisak cruised in beating UNC Greensboro’s Stephanie Macfarlane 6-2, 6-1 in flight C to also reach the finals of her backdraw.

Dijana Stojic struggled in her match with Jessa Adler in flight A. After winning the first set 6-2, she lost the next two 7-5, 7-5 and will look for her first win of the tournament Sunday.

Both the Gamecocks’ doubles teams of Jocic/Stojic and Maisak/Pereira split contests on the day. Jocic and Stojic first lost to Steens and Tomljanovic from UVa before defeating Behr and Dougherty from UNC Greensboro in flight A. In the B draw, Maisak and Pereira were 8-5 victors in their first match against Koprcina and Kucin of Marshall. They lost by the same score to Fraser and Fuccillo in their next match.

Play continues in the UVa Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday.
