CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.Miljana Jocic and Rita Maisak from the South Carolina women’s tennis team both won the backdraws in their respective singles flights at the UVa Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., on Sunday.

Jocic posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Mary Beth Winingham of Dartmouth in the A draw, while Maisak also won easily, beating Ryan Reichel, also of Dartmouth, 6-2, 6-0, in flight C.

Dijana Stojic and Adriana Pereira lost their matches on the day. In flight A, Stojic withdrew from her match trailing Ragini Acharya from William & Mary 4-2. Pereira lost in three sets in flight B to NC State’s Chloe Smith 6-4, 1-6, (10-6). She and Maisak lost their doubles match on the day as well to Zapranza and Lock from Marshall 8-5.

South Carolina heads to Greenville, S.C., next for the Furman Fall Classic over Sept. 25-27.
