GREENVILLE, S.C. — The South Carolina women’s tennis team played two rounds of doubles Saturday at the Furman Fall Classic in Greenville, S.C.

Anya Morgina and Madeleine Saari-Byström recorded a couple of victories on the day in the top doubles flight to claim fifth place. First, they defeated Arguello and Cline from Furman 8-6 and then made short work of Rybakova and Scharle from Florida State 8-1.

In flight two, Josefin Andersson and Dijana Stojic dropped an 8-6 decision to Northwestern’s Lee and Lui in an unusual match that featured only one hold of serve in the 14 games. The Gamecock duo rebounded in its final match of the day by blanking Preeg and Stanford of Furman 8-0.

Miljana Jocic and Adriana Pereira lost both of their matches in flight three. The first came against Murray and Abu Mushraf from Northwestern 8-4 and then Tennessee’s Sorbello and Szekely won 8-1 in the third-place match.

The Furman Fall Classic concludes Sunday with one round of singles beginning at 9 a.m.
