ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Four members of the South Carolina women’s tennis team concluded play in the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Sunday.

Miljana Jocic was the lone winner on the day for the Gamecocks, defeating Rika Tatsuno from Michigan in a consolation singles match in the maize draw 6-2, 2-6, (10-8) to finish the weekend with a 3-1 record in singles. Overall, Jocic holds the team’s best record at 11-3 this fall.

Ana Marija Zubori and Josefin Andersson played in the finals of the maize and blue draws. Zubori won her first set against Denise Muresan from Michigan 7-5, but lost the second 6-1 and then fell 10-6 in a super tiebreaker for the third set. Andersson also won her first set against Michigan’s Tania Mahtani 6-2, but lost 6-0 in the second and 10-7 in the third. Like Jocic, both Zubori and Andersson ended the weekend with 3-1 records.

Madeleine Saari-Byström lost in straights sets in a consolation match in the maize draw. Michelle Sammons from Purdue defeated her 7-5, 6-2.

The Gamecocks return to action for the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Northwestern over Oct. 9-11 in Evanston, Ill.
