COLUMBIA, S.C. – University of South Carolina women’s basketball will play 10 of its 28 games on television in 2009-10, including a pair of SEC contests on the ESPN family of networks. The Gamecocks’ first four home games will air on SportSouth, per the athletics department’s contract with the outlet. Two SEC games will air on FSN*, one on CSS and another on the SEC Network.

“It’s great for our program to have so much regional and national exposure,” South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley said. “It’s just as important for our fans to come out to Colonial Life Arena for those games and show everyone outside Columbia what they’re missing.”

The Gamecocks will open their home slate against Penn State on Nov. 22 on SportSouth. After playing three games in the Paradise Jam, South Carolina returns to the friendly confines of Colonial Life Arena for a Dec. 2 school-day tipoff against High Point, which opens a three-game homestand. All three games of the stretch, which includes matchups with NC State (Dec. 13) and Wake Forest (Dec. 17), will air on SportSouth.

South Carolina hosts LSU in the SEC opener on Sun., Jan. 3, in a 6 p.m. contest that will air on ESPNU. It is the Gamecocks’ first appearance on the ESPN family of networks since squaring off against Chattanooga in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament on ESPN2. National media returns to Colonial Life Arena on Feb. 14, for a 2 p.m. matchup against Arkansas on ESPN2.

FSN* will air two of the Gamecocks’ road games – at Tennessee on Jan. 7 and the season finale at Vanderbilt on Feb. 28. South Carolina hosts Tennessee on Jan. 31 for a 2 p.m. game on the SEC Network, and a Feb. 7 matchup at Georgia will be on CSS (Charter Sports Southeast).

FSN* will also air all games of the first two rounds of the SEC Tournament in Duluth, Ga. ESPNU is slated to broadcast the semifinals on Mar. 6, and ESPN2 will air the championship on Mar. 7.
