Nov. 17, 2009

Hey guys, my name is Kandyce Redondo. I’m a sophomore here at SC, and I’m originally from south Florida. If you’re not sure who I am, I’m the really short one. Actually I’m the shortest one on the team and the shortest in South Carolina softball history (yes I am proud of that).

I have two siblings, an older brother and an older sister. I’m the youngest in the family, and I love being the baby. It suits me well. My parents are amazing and are a huge aspect in my life. I turn to them for everything, and they support my decisions 100 percent.

Coming to SC has been life changing. Playing D1 softball in probably the toughest conference has been eye opening. People have told me about, but listening to the talk doesn’t compare to actually playing. I’m really fortunate to be here, and I try not to take that for granted. I’m in a place far from home, and I’m happy, since I get to play the game I love. Last year was a lot for me. It was truly a learning experience. I came in not knowing what to expect, but this year I’m just looking forward to great things. We have a lot of team chemistry and we all get along on and off the field. I think fall ball helped us with that. I didn’t get to play in any of the fall games due to knee surgery, which was disheartening, but I was able to learn a lot just from watching my teammates. I was able to read them off the field. As much as I have learned from watching, I cannot wait to actually be on the field playing with them and taking what I learned and using it to my advantage.

Thanksgiving is about two weeks away, and I know everyone is pretty excited to be going home and seeing their families. I haven’t seen my family and friends since mid-June (which feels like forever), so I’m pretty excited about that. With Thanksgiving coming, that means that winter break is right around the corner, and fall is ending. We’ve worked really hard this fall with lifting, conditioning and practice. I know even though the break is coming, the hard work will not end.

Well I just want to wish everyone a safe trip home and enjoy yourselves. Happy holidays, and don’t forget to come out and support us! =]]
