Dec. 1, 2009

Hey y’all. My name is Kierstyn White and I am a sophomore pitcher at South Carolina. Originally I am from Texas, but I have lived in Columbia for eight years now. I have learned to love South Carolina, but I’m still a Texas girl at heart.

I have two siblings, an older brother named Chris aka “Bubba,” which is what I have called him since I could talk, and a younger sister named Kaitlyn. She recently signed to play softball at the College of Charleston. Even though it would have been awesome to play ball with her again, I am still super proud and happy for her! I can’t leave out my parents, who have been awesome supporters throughout my whole career, driving me to and from tournaments every weekend of the summer. So I just want to say thank you and I love y’all!

This past week was Thanksgiving break. For the whole semester, I was dreading break to come because I wasn’t going to get to go back home. And home for me is still Texas because that is where my whole family lives. For awhile I thought I was going to have to be a part of one of my teammate’s families. Not that it would have been a bad thing, but I only get to go home three times a year. About a week before break, I got a text from my brother asking when I would be able to come home. I got really confused because I knew I wasn’t going to be able to leave Friday with my mom and sister because I couldn’t miss practice. Then I got another text saying I had a plane ticket for Tuesday. My awesome brother had bought me a plane ticket to go home! I have never been so happy in my life. Even though I don’t get to open a present from him at Christmas, I couldn’t have asked for a better present. So in one day I went from dreading Thanksgiving break to counting down the days until I flew out thanks to my big bro.

Because of NCAA rules, we’re not allowed to have practice with the coaches again until we come back in January. But you better believe that’s not keeping us off the field. We have been going out to the field, working hard and getting ready for spring. All year long, coach talks about the more work we put in the better we will be, and we’re all ready for an awesome season!

Well guys, this is about all I have for you, so I hope you enjoyed my blog. I hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving, and I hope to see y’all out at Beckham Field come spring time! Go Cocks!
